Business Intelligence Software

In recent months, I am studying for my Master's degree in Business Administration. Fortunately, I was admitted to one of the most prestigious schools in Thailand if not the world. My professors come from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Having world-class professors taught me is one of the easiest time to study new tricks while maintain hectic work week.

My current class is about business modeling, decision support system, and building data for business decisions. Early on, I thought of Business Intelligence as large spreadsheet. But the fact is that it's not just spreadsheet when the data is gargantuan. It's all about thinking of the model, building the model based on the assumption, and convert all existing data to feed the model. I've learned about Optimization, Simulation, and more.

Since my work is primarily about Intelligent Systems. I'm thinking about building easy-to-manage and easy-to-use Business Intelligence. Currently there are open-source business intelligence suites out there such as this one, this one. I personally used JasperReport before. So it will be interesting to see what they have.

In the following weeks/months, I will be thinking of ideas to build one. Any ideas/comments are welcome!
